The event will be organised through a local environmental organisation: Shout Climate Change Africa. The aim is to clean the Aberdeen to Lumley beach area as it is the main beach in Freetown and it is also the most polluted by plastics. This is because it is the end deposit point of all gutters coming from the main city. At the end of the cleaning exercise, the tools used will be given to a local NGO which is volunteering to clean the beach daily. Diplomatic missions, international organisations, NGOs, civil society groups and youth groups will participate in the event.
