Plastic fishing competition

Assonautica Pescara Chieti, in cooperation with Marina di Pescara tourist port, is hosting the third edition of the “Plastic Fishing Competition”, an event focused on marine protection and raising awareness on plastic reduction. Endorsed by the Abruzzo Regional Council, the Municipality of Pescara, the Chamber of Commerce Chieti Pescara, the Coast Guard and Assonautica Italiana, it has once again been recognised by the European Commission as a European Maritime Day 2025 Event, highlighting its importance for community engagement and marine ecosystem protection. This non-profit initiative is open to all sea enthusiasts with any type of boat. From 9:00 to 13:30, participants will head out to the waters off Marina di Pescara to “fish” plastic and waste using nets, rods, or suitable equipment. In the afternoon, an award ceremony will honor the crews, followed by awareness activities on marine conservation, responsible plastic use, and recycling.
