Plastic Pirates – Go Europe!

3 years ahead, the same place - Burgas Beach, the same day - September 23, the same people - Burgas Free University and the school students of the Black Sea coast!

3 years ahead! is a citizens science event. It will be performed at the the same place - Burgas Beach, at the same day - September 23, and by the same organiser - Burgas Free University and the school students of the Black Sea coast - Burgas, and area, as was the kick-off of this pan-European initiative - Plastic Pirates – Go Europe! On September 23, 2022, then EU Commissioner for Youth, Education, Research and Innovation Ms. Mariya Gabriel gave the kick-off with the team of the Burgas Free University of the already initiated in three countries (Germany, Portugal and Slovenia) Plastic Pirates. It is about sampling the waste and identifying different types of plastics on the coast and water, and mostly the micro-plastic. For the period of the last 3 years 12 additional countries - with Bulgaria first widened the range in which the initiative was active.
