CIENCIA CIUDADANA - LIMPIEZA DE MICROPLÁSTICOS DE LA PLAYA

Info days

On Sunday, 27 September, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Bioparc Acuario de Gijón will organise a microplastic clean-up and sampling activity at Poniente Beach in Gijón, as part of the EU Beach Clean Up initiative and at the request of BluePoint. The activity aims to engage local citizens in marine conservation while bringing science closer to the public. Microplastic collection will follow a scientific sampling methodology, allowing the waste found to be recorded and analysed and generating comparable data. The aim is to repeat the initiative in future years and contribute to monitoring the presence of microplastics on this urban beach. The event will include the participation of COGERSA, which will run educational workshops focused on this environmental issue, as well as the collaboration of the Regional Ministry for the Environment, Gijón City Council and local associations. Bioparc Acuario de Gijón will be responsible for coordinating, promoting and facilitating the event, combining citizen participation, environmental education and science to better understand the impact of our waste and encourage greater protection of the oceans.
