Cleaner Lakes and Bluer Seas!

Today, together with the young seafarers and teachers of Piri Reis Maritime Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, we were at Tuzla Abdüş Lake. In response to the #EUBeachCleanup call organized as part of #WorldCleanupDay, we gathered to collect plastic and solid waste along the lake shore. By carrying the core values of seafaring—environmental responsibility and safety at sea—beyond the classroom, we strengthened our shared commitment to enhancing environmental awareness and raising maritime consciousness. Together with the young seafarers of Piri Reis Maritime Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, we collected 10 bags and approximately 200 kg of waste in just 1 hour from the lake shore. We extend our gratitude to all students and teachers who took part, and a special thanks to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) for their support. We will continue working towards cleaner coasts and healthier aquatic ecosystems.
