Pedrógão Beach Cleanup 2026 As part of the International Youth Day celebrations, the Pedrógão Beach Cleanup 2026 will bring together young people, local residents and volunteers in a collective action to protect the coastal environment of Leiria. Taking place at Pedrógão Beach, a well-known Atlantic coastal destination characterized by its extensive sandy shoreline and strong connection to the local fishing community, the initiative aims to remove litter from the beach and surrounding areas while raising awareness about marine pollution and climate change. The activity is co-organized by the Municipality of Leiria, through its Youth Unit, and the One Piece After Another Association, and is integrated into the youth participation and volunteering activities supported by the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth (IPDJ). The project seeks to promote environmental stewardship, active citizenship and youth engagement through hands-on volunteering. Participants will contribute directly to the preservation of coastal ecosystems while developing a stronger understanding of the environmental challenges facing our oceans and communities. Aligned with the mission of One Piece After Another, the initiative empowers young people to become agents of positive change, encouraging solidarity, community involvement and sustainable behaviours. By engaging youth in practical climate action, the event fosters responsibility, teamwork and long-term commitment to environmental protection and social impact.
