The clean-up event is organised by Worx Brand Involving Communications Ltd in collaboration with the environmental NGO Enalia Physis Environmental Research Centre and aims to carry out both a beach and seabed clean-up with the support of 40 volunteers from the GMP-Henkel Limited and Alphamega companies. The event will take place at Lady’s Mile Beach in Limassol, a site chosen for its significant ecological value. Lady’s Mile and the broader Akrotiri Peninsula form one of Cyprus’s most important natural habitats, hosting a unique mosaic of ecosystems. These include vital coastal sand dunes and the nearby Akrotiri Salt Lake, which together support a rich variety of flora and fauna. The sand dunes act as natural coastal barriers and provide shelter for rare and endemic plant species, while the adjacent lake serves as a critical stopover and wintering site for thousands of migratory birds, including the iconic flamingos. This fragile and biodiverse landscape makes Lady’s Mile and the Akrotiri Peninsula a priority for conservation efforts in the Mediterranean region.
