A new sustainable fisheries partnership agreement between the EU and Madagascar and implementing protocol has been signed on 30 June 2023 with a public financial contribution of €7,200,000 for the whole duration of the protocol (4 years), out of which €4,400,000 is to be dedicated to the support of the fisheries policy of Madagascar.
This fisheries agreement allow EU vessels mainly from Spain, Portugal, Italy and France to fish in the Malagasy waters and is part of the tuna network fisheries agreements, in the south-west zone of the Indian Ocean.
