A project named “Be a fisher!” came about as an innovative partnership between fishers and a public educational institution to train future seafarers and fishers and promote their profession more broadly.

Two artificial reefs have led to improved fishing potential and are allowing for thorough research on the feasibility and impact of developing such areas. This reef project is currently the only one of its kind in the Baltic Sea to have provided data over such a long time period.

A Bulgarian family aquaculture business operating in a Natura 2000 area had difficulty finding a solution to their fish being eaten by birds. They established a four-year contract with Bulgarian authorities to be compensated annually for production losses, allowing the protected birds to eat

The EMFF has funded the conversion of a local pig farm to a fish farm: an on-farm aquaculture system designed to reduce the environmental impact of the production, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and integrate crop production.
