Euronews OCEAN episode 4: Ocean energy

At the European Commission we know a thing or two about the impressive power of the ocean. But what if we use this power not just for food or health or transport, but for… power?

For this episode, the Euronews crew goes to Ushant in Brittany and the European Marine Energy Centre in the Orkney Islands, Northern Scotland.

They show how waves and tides can become a viable source of clean, renewable energy, with the potential to meet 10% of the EU’s energy needs.

The European Commission has well understood the strategic importance of this development, investing €300 million in it over the last decade.

Will it help us achieve a zero carbon economy by 2050? Check out Episode 4. Ocean Energy by Euronews OCEAN.

OCEAN is a Euronews magazine in collaboration with the European Commission (DG MARE). In monthly 5-minute videos, we highlight fascinating projects and developments related to the ocean and coastal communities.

Previous episodes were on aquaculture (March), IUU fishing (February) and sustainable fisheries (January).
