Euronews OCEAN Season 7, Episode 3 - Turning the tide for young offenders

Young offenders often lack opportunities to develop skills, increasing their risk of reoffending. The Turning Blue project aims to change that by providing education and training in the blue economy - jobs linked to the ocean. Using multimedia and virtual reality, it engages 16- to 30-year-olds in juvenile correctional facilities, offering help with job placements, mentoring, and skills training to support employment and reintegration after release.

The project also helps meet the industry’s demand for new talent, aligning with EU goals for sustainability and social inclusion. In Portugal, companies like SEAentia are proving that innovation in aquaculture can attract young talent and drive sustainable growth.
