Today, EU fisheries ministers agreed fishing opportunities for 2025 for the Atlantic and North Sea, Mediterranean and Black Sea.

During the 47th annual meeting of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM), the EU and neighbourhood countries agreed on important measures in favour of sustainability of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

Today, the Council agreed on fishing opportunities for 2024 for the fish stocks managed by the EU in the Atlantic, Kattegat and Skagerrak.

Much to the fishers’ dismay, cod populations in the Baltic Sea have been decreasing since the 1990s. The reasons are many, including habitat degradation. The same decade also saw the start of a potential solution to habitat loss.

Today, the Council of fisheries ministers agreed on fishing opportunities for 2023 for the fish stocks exclusively managed by the EU in the Atlantic Ocean, Kattegat and Skagerrak, including deep-sea stocks for 2023 and 2024.
