Coastal fishers have teamed up with three fisheries Local Action Groups (LAGs) to sustainably manage the local fisheries and ensure the fishers’ livelihood in the future. At the same time, they have developed an app, ProPesca, to facilitate the lives of the coastal fishers.

Collaboration among fishers, scientists, manufacturers and public authorities on the construction and piloting of an 8-metre electric boat. The use of such electric fishing and leisure boats will cut CO2 emissions, while improving water quality and working conditions on the boats.

The HIPPOSAVE project allowed the researchers to learn more about the environmental and habitat requirements of this species in the Ria Formosa lagoon (Portugal), where the numbers have fallen by more than 90% in a decade.
