World Cleanup day, on Saturday 18 September, is just a few hours away and the #EUBeachCleanup campaign keeps building momentum: new friends are joining forces to protect marine biodiversity from litter and pollution.
Today, Let’s Do It World teams up with #EUBeachCleanup, bringing onboard its unparalleled global environmental network. Let’s Do It World has active leaders and teams tackling the waste problem in more than 160 countries, and the World Cleanup Day is one of the largest projects it undertakes, on beaches, rivers, forests and communities.
World Cleanup Day 2018 had nearly 18 million participants from 157 countries, and the 2019 edition united more than 21 million people in cleanup activities in 180 countries. In 2020, the World Cleanup Day took place despite COVID-19 restrictions: more than 11 million people from 166 countries cleaned their communities, either in small groups or individually.
Let’s Do It World’s commitment to put together groups, individuals, and organizations towards the goal of a waste-free world, is shared by the #EUBeachCleanup partners, European Union, United Nations and The Smurfs. We are delighted to work together for the wellbeing of the Ocean.
It can be done. Let’s do it!
