Bringing nature and adventure tourism to the coast

Two young nature lovers built an innovative tourism company, allowing them to earn a living in their small coastal community while bringing new and sustainable activities to the area.

ADREPES FLAG supported the creation of this local business, Vertente Natural, in 2004 and has since continued to play an active, guiding role at key moments during the company’s development. Following a start-up grant, the FLAG helped Vertente Natural expand its offer from land-based tours to activities linked to the area’s maritime assets and coastal heritage. In particular, it supported the acquisition of nautical equipment and, subsequently, investment in an online marketing and booking platform. The most recent grant, in 2023, improved the service infrastructure in the Port of Sesimbra. Today, the company attracts approximately 30,000 national and international tourists annually.
