The firm implemented three separate projects to boost production of algae. One installed a photobioreactor in an existing greenhouse to cultivate and process seaweed. Another constructed a new seaweed farm. The third installed a cultivation system for the dietary supplement Spirulina in the village of Zimnitza. The Spirulina project includes a hybrid photobioreactor, an automatic separator, and machinery for dispensing and packaging the product.

Results

  • Improved nutrient profile of the Spirulina, including higher protein, omega-3 fatty acid, antioxidants and iron.
  • Modernised production has improved control over growing conditions and product quality.
  • Lower operating costs.
  • Enhanced market competitiveness, branding and ability to reach new markets.
