Fish processing company sees growth in production and sustainability

Holzinger is a family-owned company in Upper Austria that has been producing fresh fish and smoked fish products since 1892. Species include trout, Arctic char and sturgeon, among others. EMFF investment has allowed the company to modernise and digitalise its processing and marketing activities, paying particular attention to animal welfare and environmental protection. Improvements include modernising water recirculation systems for the fish ponds; digitalising admin systems; and installing modern machinery for fish slaughtering and transport. Since 2016 the company’s entire production has run on solar and hydroelectric power, and this project also extended the infrastructure for solar electricity generation.
