The Lower Austrian association of carp pond farmers, in cooperation with the Styrian association of pond farmers and fish breeders, has set up innovative and interactive information boards about carp pond farming, with a total of 72 boards installed throughout Austria. The aim is to inform the broad public about carp pond farming in all its facets.
To the same end, the CarpTrails project, aims to attract people to explore the ‘Waldviertel’ pond region by bike on a guided tour. Participants, accompanied by pond farmers and experts from the Lower Austrian association of carp pond farmers, can experience an exciting blend of activities including a ‘carp cinema’, a ‘carp kitchen’, a ‘carp carriage’ and a ‘carp box’, while learning interesting facts about carp pond farming, its history in the region as well as culinary delights.
