Research and development lab for the reuse of eco-materials

Koukous de Lab, located on Lesvos Island in Greece, used EMFF funds to research and develop new eco-materials from ocean-based materials like seaweed and ocean nets.

Koukous de Lab has specialised for years in transforming olive pits into solid eco-materials to be used for the production of furniture, tiles, benches, large surfaces and other useful objects. With the support of EMFF funds, the company renovated their lab to focus the research and development of similar eco-materials composed of ocean materials like seaweed and ghost nets, which are abundant on the Greek islands.

Results

  • Renovation of the laboratory.
  • Promotion and publicity of the initiative.
  • Research and development for new eco-materials from seaweed and ghost nets.
