Praia de Sanxenxo is a traditional fishing vessel that has been re-equipped for pesca-tourism, and now offers several itineraries in the Pontevedra estuary to teach visitors about fishing for species such as octopus and crabs. The trips highlight the economic and culinary value of local seafood and show off the estuary’s biodiversity and seafaring culture to both visitors and residents.
Visitors learn about local marine habitats and species, including the main species of interest to fishers in the Pontevedra estuary. They see at first hand the gear and methods used by the artisanal fishers, get a taste of the seafaring culture, and understand how local catches are marketed, labelled and sold.
