With rising fuel cost and environmental impacts of fossil fuels, using solar power in the fishing sector is as important as ever. French beneficiaries used EMFF funding to equip the entire deck (from bow to the back of the boat) of the 110 m² catamaran ‘Franck Annie’ with solar panels. The battery is sized to ensure a typical summer day of operation on its own. The project is a pilot to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of such a setup before being installed on other boats from the company, as well as other companies in the Saint-Malo area.
